Alcohol Ink: Underwater Magic

Master the magic of movement. Alcohol inks are known for their fluidity, but in this class, you’ll learn how to harness that energy to paint a detailed, stunning coral reef. Working from a reference, you will receive step-by-step guidance and discover how to achieve incredible precision while letting the inks dance across the page.




  • A fee of $20 is due to the instructor at the start of the workshop for specialty supplies.

    We will use food-grade ethanol instead of isopropyl alcohol to avoid fumes and health hazards.


    We'll take a 45 minute lunch break mid-day, so please consider bringing a bagged lunch from home, otherwise options are available at cafes in the downtown area. 
Julie Tibus

A Bachelor of Fine Arts, Julie Tibus has been professionally selling and showing her work for over 15 years and currently teaches at her own studios in Ann Arbor and Brighton, Michigan. Julie has an insatiable curiosity that leads her to explore emerging mediums with a desire to discover new techniques. Her work draws from an intersection of nature and her own bold expression of it. "My art is centered on exploring natural form, embracing color, and working intuitively. I begin with a loose thought (floral, landscape, color, pattern, shape) then move through the composition with an internal desire to free myself from laboring and instead lose myself completely to the process. I believe we all are creative and through art we can learn how to overcome the fear of comparison, the unknown, and those hard expectations we impose on ourselves. My work is for the viewer to experience, contemplate and enjoy."
