Diving Into The Acrylic Landscape

Workshops | Available

Step into the world of acrylic painting and bring landscapes to life with depth, color, and texture. We’ll explore essential materials—from surfaces and pigments to the tools that shape your style. Learn how to confidently block in your composition, understand values, and mix colors that feel vibrant and natural. Students will come away with the practical knowledge to create more successful & expressive paintings, and have some fun too!

  • We'll take a lunch break mid-day, so please consider bringing a bag lunch from home, but you can also grab a quick bite from area cafes.
  • 11x14 Canvas or larger

    Student assorted acrylic brushes (suggested):

  •

    Color mixing palette

  • *I use a Masterson Sta-Wet Artist Palette Seal 12"x16" with palette paper

  • A subject you’d like to paint
  • Hope this helps when picking a subject…
  • Bring several photos of the same subject, one that is the original and one that is very light so you can see that detail in the shadows. If you want to put that deer in a beautiful landscape, try to make sure that the light is coming from the same direction, not a deer photo with strong lights and darks and a background from over cast day.

LaFogg, Deb
Deb LaFogg

Deborah LaFogg Docherty is an artist that works in pastels, oils and acrylic, sharing her experiences with wildlife and rural landscapes. Growing up on a farm in Connecticut, her mother was her inspiration. She painted whenever possible and graduated with honors in Illustration and commercial art from Paire College. She worked as a designer at the Sun Sentinel News Paper for over 34 years while promoting her art. Her goal in painting is for the viewer to share her passion. Her main subjects are birds and animals because they symbolize freedom and beauty, something she cares for deeply. She aims to inspire others by doing demos and teaching.

Her work is often featured in the Salmagundi Club shows and Auctions in New York City. One of her paintings went on tour with the Art Renew Centers international tour, traveling from New York, to Sotheby’s in Los Angeles, and Meme Art Museum in Barcelona Spain. She has also been published in the International Artist Magazine, the Pastel Journal, to mention a few and her work has been in art museums in the US, Spain and China.
