Your individual style is encouraged as you paint from your references with an emphasis on strong compositions and technique.

  • Suggested colors: Cadmium Red Light

  • Manganese Blue
  • Prussian or Phthalo Blue
  • Indian Yellow or Cadmium Yellow Deep
  • Cadmium Yellow Light or Lemon Yellow
  • Burnt Umber
  • Burnt Sienna
  • Titanium White - Large Tube
  • I like Liquitex heavy body, Winsor Newton and Holbein Acrylics
  • Gamblin, Grumbacher or Winsor Newton Oils
  • Canvases: 16" x 20" or larger
  • *for acrylics - IF you prefer to work thin buy Yes stretched canvas or aqua board designed to accept water application
  • Disposable palette paper
  • Optional for acrylic - Stay Wet Palette / small spritz bottle
  • Paper towels and soft cotton rags
  • Large water container for acrylics
  • Odorless Turpenoid (blue can, not green) and glass container to hold it
  • Small sketchbook and pencil
  • Palette knifes
  • Mediums such as glaze and slow drying extenders are helpful for acrylics
  • Liquin is my favorite medium for oils, used to thin or glaze and will speed up dry time
  • Brushes: I prefer Nylon or soft for acrylics and oils. Bristle or stiff brushes if you prefer for oils only. Buy assorted flats, angle and/or filberts. I suggest 1/4" - 2".
  • Larger inexpensive hardware brushes work good for base coats.
  • A bar of Lava Soap is great for cleanup
Reed Eiler, Diane

Diane Reed Eiler works in and teaches a variety of mediums. These include oil, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media. Through thoughtful critiques she encourages self discovery and individual expression welcoming all levels. "As an artist and instructor, my goal is to inspire others to view the world as the unpredictable and amazing place it is. To take chances and create! In my own work my intent is to bring together light, color and the natural composition nature rewards us with and translate it into a unique painting for the viewer to experience. I find inspiration from the Everglades and Southwest Florida, my home for many years, as well as from trips out west to reconnect with the mountains, rivers and pacific coast that shaped my past."
