Learn to paint not only a still life with great composition and color harmony, but also experience the joy that comes with painting memories that last a lifetime. Kathleen generously and thoroughly teaches the essential elements during a demo, and hands on personal instruction throughout the workshop, to help you create a great painting. As Kathleen sees first hand the joy her memory paintings bring to her collectors, she too made her own memory paintings while grieving the loss of her mother. “It was wonderful to feel such delight as I painted the arrangement sent on behalf of my mother. Incorporating a photo of her and dad added an extra special touch in the painting that I will treasure forever”. You too will learn to create a masterpiece painting with lasting, happy memories.

  • Due to the instructor's need to make travel arrangements, if the minimum enrollment has not been met by Wednesday, January 20, the workshop will be cancelled.
  • Students will bring objects to class that have special and personal meaning. Some ideas include baby’s shoes, spoon and rattle, or a mother’s favorite vase, book and flowers. Other ideas include a son’s baseball, glove and picture of his home run, or your favorite recipe book, cupcake and coffee cup. (If you bring a photo be sure it can be used as an object in the still life – not something to paint from as photo reference.) These paintings can be of someone still with us, or one who has already passed. Feel free to include your own personal objects to pass on to a loved one.

Denis, Kathleen

My passion for painting began with my first art lessons at four years old, but most of my childhood was spent training to be a ballerina. While in college, I returned to my desire to be an artist & having graduated from University of Miami with a BFA in graphic design, I then began using my creativity within the commercial design industry. My longing to paint intensified while visiting various art festivals in my community and soon began my journey into the fine art world as I eventually left the graphic design field to pursue painting. This new endeavor consisted of exhibiting originals & prints in outdoor art festivals & galleries throughout the country, and trade-shows, eventually establishing Kathleen Denis Designs. My art was soon discovered by companies that apply images to home décor and gift products, which began an unexpected and exciting career as a “Licensed Artist.” Then the unexpected desire to paint returned, however, I decided this time to paint what inspires me instead of what companies require for the commercial industry. Now embracing the oil medium instead of watercolors, and incorporating a more painterly and impressionistic style, a renewed love and passion for painting leads me into this present inspiring chapter as an artist. https://kathleendenis.com/
