Creating art can be very therapeutic for the soul. This class is designed for creative expression. With the use of our fingers to create, we will push colors across the canvas to express our feelings. We’ll allow colors and shapes to take form as we let go of life’s stresses. Your designs can be completely abstract, or with an eye toward a design. It’s about using your imagination to create peace and calm.

  • Canvas sizes: six 8 x 10 and/or 9 x12.
  • Acrylic paints—I love Golden brand—I would use high flow or heavy body Golden acrylics. You can also use Liquitex Basic Acrylics or other brands, like Daler & Rowney, Liquitex, Grumbacher, Atelier, etc. The brand you purchase does make a difference. Purchase colors you would like to use and include purchasing white acrylic paint. If you would like to keep costs low, you can purchase Artist’s Loft white paint in the large one-quart container. You don’t need to buy many colors and the colors you use are completely up to you. If you want, you can purchase two or three colors besides white, so you can start off with a small color palette.
  • Palettes: You can use anything you like, such as another canvas, palette, a plastic lid, etc. You will need storage containers for paints you mix (if you do mix colors and want to save them). I usually use recycled plastic containers for my paints.
  • Water container, paper towels or a towel to manipulate paint.
  • You may want to use gloves when you paint, but it is much easier to paint without them.
