We will create from the depth of the earth a magnificent and delightful Pegasus or Unicorn, using the methods of the very old world. We will get creative and messy like little kids while using natural materials and learning & applying adult sculpture techniques.

  • This class is VIRTUAL. Students will be emailed a link to join the class live prior to its start.
  • Soil that is rich with clay (like GA Clay)
  • About 2 cups of finely chopped hay. I use my blender with enough water and squeeze it.
  • About 1 cup of paper pulp. You can buy it at an art store such as Michel’s but for the small amount we need - Pour boiling water on shredded paper (not the glossy one), after it cools, tear to small pieces or use the blender.
  • About a cup of simple sand (in any building supply store or from the beach).
  • Optional but recommended: A cup of ash. I burn a small pile of sticks in my backyard.
  • A big bowl of water.
  • A mixture of 7 tabs of water and 3 tabs of flour cooked to make a roux.
  • 4 sticks/ chopsticks/ small branches about the same size for legs.
  • A couple of toothpicks.
  • Sponge
  • Hard bristle painting brush

I'm a self-taught artist. I sculpt in clay and use other materials such as paper, rocks, pine cones. I'm an author of short stories (two of which were published), a poet (one of which is being published), and a teacher of social studies (MA) and Hebrew. I researched the Native American's Sun Dance in the University of Bar Ilan. I live in GA with one husband and two Great Pyrenees dogs (from shelters, of course). I love desserts, art, animals and good people, not necessarily in that order.
