In this class, you will learn how to manipulate Floetrol and Liquitex pouring medium to create unique designs using the various pouring techniques, like dirty pour, flip cup pour, dutch pour, swiping, torching, etc. Weekly demonstrations will cover how to incorporate design using colors and the importance of paint brands.

  • Masks are required to be worn by all students, regardless of vaccination status.
  • $40 supply fee due to instructor at 1st meeting for specialty supplies.
  • For the first class, bring four canvases and other supplies listed below. Wear a comfortable shirt with long sleeves, comfy shoes, and an apron.
  • Wooden, or cotton canvasses
  • *Purchase at least 12 canvases—you will be creating at least one triptych piece, so three 8” x 10” canvases. For the other canvases, you can choose any canvas size, but no larger than 11” x 14”. Keep in mind, you may need more canvases depending how you work. The emphasis for this class is taking your time to create your design by using colors and the techniques involved.
  • Hair dryer
  • Flat box to bring home artwork
  • Extension chord
  • Crème brûlée torch (be sure it’s filled with butane)
  • Mask

  • You will use a lot of white and black, which I recommend purchasing Artist’s Loft brand in the large one-quart container, which is inexpensive.
  • For other acrylic paint colors, which does impact the piece, I recommend using: Golden (high flow, fluids or heavy body), Daler & Rowney, Liquitex, Holbein, Winsor & Newton, Utrect, Grumbacher, Art Deco, and many more (this is not an extensive list, just suggestions).
  • You can purchase these items at: Jerry’s Artarama (online), Dick Blick (online), Jackson’s (online), Holbein Artist Materials (online), Michaels, and many other retailers.
