Pattern design using markers is a delightful way to create! Demonstrations in class will show how using this easy medium to create your designs can take form. Whether the design is representational or nonrepresentational, you will learn about layout, tools, and techniques, such as how to manipulate the markers to change your line weight, how lines can represent other things in nature, and how a simple line suggestion can make something seem bigger, or smaller than what it actually is. I call this playing “mind games” with your designs—so much emphasis is on how the viewer’s brain interprets the lines or blocks of colors.
