Alcohol and acrylic inks have bright beautiful colors for an artist to explore. Learn how to manipulate these mediums to create vibrant pieces on various materials. The first half of the course will cover alcohol Inks and the second half will cover acrylic inks. Both inks can be challenging as the operate differently than regular paints out of tube. We’ll explore different techniques and materials to use to create your designs.

  • Masks recommended, but not mandatory.

  • $15 supply fee due to instructor at 1st meeting for specialty supplies.


  • For the first class, bring supplies for alcohol inks only.

  • Alcohol inks:
  • One bottle of 91% or higher of isopropyl alcohol
  • Alcohol inks (color choice and brand are up to you—I would choose at least 6 different colors
  • Gycerin
  • Stylus
  • Hair dryer or heat gun
  • Pipettes
  • Blower for inks
  • At least 9 needle tip bottles
  • Palette that can hold inks
  • Mask
  • Gloves
  • Scotch tape
  • For acrylic inks:
  • I recommend: Daler & Rowney inks
  • For colors: at least 5-6 different colors of your choice
  • Brushes: an angled paint brush, and a round tip brush
  • Ink roller
  • High gloss varnish
  • Painter’s tape
  • At least one pack of 11” x 14” cotton canvas
  • Plastic cup or container for water
  • Palmolive soap
  • Paper towels or cloth for wiping and cleaning brushes & materials
