This class will manipulate textures and mediums to create a representational abstract painting. The interpretation of the object/scene is up to the artist. It could be a boat on a water, a tree, a school of fish or a person’s face. Demonstrations will guide students on how to handle this exploration of abstract painting and how to get to the point of “sight.” What’s important to keep in mind, is that isn’t necessarily a complex painting that makes it representational, but the simplicity of design. This class will also explore how to texturize, so that it creates depth to your paintings, as well as using an underpainting for effect.
