This class will take the acrylic inks to the next level of manipulation and experimentation. The focus for this class is about having confidence in your skill set, growing your ideas, and learning the different techniques to create one solid large acrylic ink abstract piece. I will do demonstrations on how you can create a representational piece and a non-representational piece. You will also learn how to mix the inks, create and layer your ink designs by manipulating the inks through use of an ink roller, painter’s tape, pouring, painting, and brushing as well as using 91% isopropyl alcohol.

  • A $35 supply fee is due to the instructor at the first class for specialty materials.

Masks are required to be worn by all students, regardless of vaccination status.

Inks can stain, so you may want to wear gloves. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, comfy clothing, and an apron.

For the first class, bring all materials, including canvases, so we’ll go over different ways to prep them. One large canvas and other materials will be supplied to you as part of your fee.

  • A pack of six 11” x 14” canvases. Depending on you work, you may need more canvases.
Brushes: an angled paint brush, and a round tip brush (you may want more brushes as you work)
    Ink roller
    Ink blower
    Painter’s tape
91% rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle
    Containers to mix the inks
Latex gloves (if you don’t want ink on your hands)
For acrylic inks, I recommend: Daler & Rowney inks
For colors: at least 5-6 different colors of your choice
Plastic cup or container for water
Ink wells or containers for mixing colors and a container to save them
    Palmolive soap
Paper towels or cloth for wiping and cleaning brushes & materials
