Ernest Long is a career Crime Prevention Specialist. Ernie was first certified in Crime Prevention in 1983 while employed as a police officer in New Jersey. Ernie served in NJ as a Patrolman, Detective and a Sergeant and after obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice became an Investigator for the State of New Jersey; Ernie retired from the State of New Jersey after attaining the rank of Assistant Chief Investigator to relocate to Florida in 1996. After two years in Loss Prevention and Inventory Control for the Auto Superstore CARMAX, Ernie again entered public service as the Crime Prevention Coordinator for the City of Aventura. Ernie has served as President of the Florida Crime Prevention Association (2002-2006) Ernie is currently Treasurer of the Florida Design out Crime Association. Ernie has taught crime prevention related courses all around Florida to include private and public organizations including diverse agencies for the State of Florida and has also taught internationally to students from Canada and Mexico. Ernie has presented at two National Crime Prevention Conferences in Washington DC and Atlanta on Crime Prevention Programs and is a regular speaker for the Miami Jewish Federation and the Aventura Marketing Council. Ernie has also taught courses for the AARP and the NRA at numerous locations. Ernie is certified as a workplace Violence Prevention instructor, Fire Safety instructor, National Incident Command System instructor, Crime Prevention through Environmental Design Instructor. Police Instructor for the State of Florida . Ernie was recognized at the 2006 Crime Prevention Associations Annual Awards Ceremony for his commitment to Crime Prevention by the National Crime Prevention Association and the Florida State Attorney General. Ernie received a Dade County Law Enforcement Officers Charitable Foundation Award for Crime Prevention in January 2002. Ernie was nominated for a Leo award in 2003 and 2004. Ernie won a LEO Award in 2018. E
