Dr. Alan Mason's captivating lecture delves into the origins of the first instrumental musical form. We will start with Bach's renowned "Prelude in C major," a staple for every student, and move on to the dramatic and bombastic "Prelude in C sharp minor" by Rachmaninoff, beloved by music enthusiasts worldwide. Additionally, we will explore sets of 24 Preludes by Debussy, Chopin, Scriabin, Bach, and Shostakovich.

Dr. Alan Mason is graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, where he was awarded Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees, and the University of Miami, where he was awarded the Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Additionally, Alan did post-doctoral studies at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Alan had a long academic career, teaching on several college campuses from 1982, until his retirement from Barry University in 2014, where he was Associate Professor of Music, 1996-2014. Alan is the conductor of HaZamir Miami a chapter of HaZamir: The International Jewish Teen Choir.
