OLLI at FIU goes to the Theater! Join us for a delightful day with John Dalton! 

We are going to see the new comedy Laughs in Spanish which is, of course, performed in English! 

The price includes instruction by John Dalton and your theater ticket!


LAUGHS IN SPANISH is a fast paced cafecito-induced comedy about art and success - mothers and daughters.  The play is set in a Wynwood Arts District art gallery run by Mariana, during the hectic weeks of Art Basel, when Mariana's movie-star mother tries to help out, things get even more complicated. (complicado).  Enjoy the Party and embrace life's twists and turns as we explore this uproarious new comedy that was the winner of the Kennedy Center's Steinberg Award and the Edgerton Foundation's New Play Award. LAUGHS IN SPANISH is written by Alexis Scheer, a Miami born and raised Jewish-Colombian graduate of the New World School of the Arts, and has a BFA from Boston Conservatory.

    Wednesday, May 29:

    10.30 a.m. meet at BBC campus for an introductory lecture with John Dalton

    11.45 a.m. short break

    You can afterwards make your way to Gablestage or just meet the group when our bus arrives at the theater. Please be aware that you are responsible for getting to Gabestage and for the parking fees yourself. 

    approx. 1.15 p.m. meet the group at Gablestage 

    2 pm: Laughs in Spanish- play starts

    4 p.m.: Talk back with John Dalton and members of Gablestage

    approx. 5 p.m.: end of excursion
