Miami and South Florida have had a profound influence on the musical scene for over 80 years. This interactive and fun-filled lecture by Dr. Clovis Shane LeMar will cover that rich history, featuring excerpts and stories about the works of artists who performed in grand hotels such as the Eden Roc and Fontainebleau. Highlights include legendary performances by The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Benny Goodman, Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, Jackie Gleason, Elvis Presley, Don Rickles, The Beatles, and appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Shane LeMar
Shane LeMar is a comedian, singer/songwriter, and actor. He broke into professional live entertainment in 1986 when he was cast as a lead performer in the Howelltone & Howellets Rock and Roll Review. He has played the roles of Little Richard, Ray Charles, and Chuck Berry, and worked on the original Miami Vice television series.
His company, Entertainment LLC, produces music, internet videos live festivals, shows and performances, and he often conducts talks and lectures rooted in American pop culture and pop history of the 20th century.
LeMar is a member of SAG, AFTRA, and ASCAP, as well as a voting member in the annual Grammys and SAG Awards.
