The Highlight of the Event:

The Beach Boys: The Sound of Surf, Sun, and Genius - a lecture by Professor Thomas Cimarusti

Considered one of the greatest bands in rock history, The Beach Boys burst onto the national scene with their 1963 hit album Surfin' U.S.A. Their signature "California Sound"—a blend of catchy harmonies, innovative studio work, and sun-soaked lyrics—helped define an era and gave rise to what became known as Surfer Rock. But behind the fun-in-the-sun image was a story of creative brilliance, personal challenges, and musical revolution. Join Dr. Tom Cimarusti, Professor of Music History at FGCU, as he dives into the life and legacy of Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys. Come ready to tap your toes and sing along—we may even catch a wave or two!
