Join art historian Dr. Batia Cohen for an inspiring exploration of two iconic women who reshaped the world of art—Mary Cassatt and Georgia O’Keeffe. In the first session, discover how Cassatt defied 19th-century expectations to become a celebrated Impressionist, capturing the intimate worlds of women and children with unparalleled sensitivity and style. In the second session, journey into the bold, modern landscapes and floral forms of O’Keeffe, whose powerful vision and independence made her a trailblazer in American modernism. Through vivid imagery, thoughtful analysis, and rich historical context, this course brings these visionary artists to life—revealing their groundbreaking contributions and lasting influence on the art world.

Batia Cohen

Dr. Batia Cohen has a Ph.D. in Mesoamerican Studies from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico and a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from the Universidad Metropolitana in Mexico City. She was an adjunct professor at Florida International University and today she lectures at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UM and FIU, along with other institutions. Batia has published numerous articles in specialized Art and History magazines. She is currently a collaborator of a cultural magazine in Spanish on line; LetraUrbana.com. She is the author of the historical novel "Una Amapola entre Cactus".
