We are kicking off our Winter Term with a bang!

Experience South Dade like never before with celebrated historian and author Cesar A. Becerra—whose five acclaimed books bring Miami’s colorful past to life. On this lively, story-filled excursion, travel toward the edge of Everglades National Park as Cesar unveils the fascinating transformation of South Florida from untamed wilderness to vibrant metropolis.

Our first stop is the legendary Robert Is Here, the world-famous fruit stand affectionately known as the “Disney World of Fruit Stands.” Meet members of the Robert family (and perhaps Robert himself!) while savoring a fresh tropical fruit cup. Hear the heartwarming story of the six-year-old boy whose roadside cucumber stand grew into a beloved South Florida institution. There will be plenty of time to explore the property, visit the animals, browse the market, and indulge in one of their famous fruit shakes before enjoying a picnic-style boxed lunch.

The day concludes at the mysterious Coral Castle, a one-of-a-kind wonder carved singlehandedly from massive limestone blocks by one tiny but very determined man. It is the perfect finale to a day brimming with history, mystery, and South Florida charm!
