Kid-Friendly Woodworking: Wooden Swords + Shields (Adults and Youth 7+ with a Registered Adult)
Adult Intensive | FULL
Work together with a parent or child to make a set of wooden swords and shields. We'll start by designing our own sword, then use basic woodworking tools and some power tools to explore basic properties of wood and how to carve it. Children can use small hand tools and adults can use larger power tools. We'll also paint our own crests on the wooden shields!
- This class will use scrap and plywood, but if you would like a different wood, please bring it. If you have woodworking experience that is great, but not needed.
If under 18, student must be accompanied by a registered adult. Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible. On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. Please visit visarts.org for more information.
