Linocut Printmaking
Adult Multi-Week | Available
Students will learn how to create a single-color linocut print from start to finish! We will talk about contemporary linocut artists, learn about carving tools and safe handling, determine ways to transfer an image to block, try different carving techniques, and different methods of printing the carved image. Students will leave the class with a broad understanding about linocut printmaking and relief printmaking practices. There will also be an optional print exchange at the end of the course! If students choose to participate in the exchange, they will leave the class with not only an edition of their own prints, but also a print from each participating classmate.
- This linocut class is open to all levels beginner-advanced. While some time is spent going over tools and processes, students can take the course at their own speed, and if you are already carving at an intermediate/advanced level, small alterations can be made to the class on an individual basis! This class its composed of drawing, carving, & printing time with guidance, so guidance is easily catered to most levels.
Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. Please visit visarts.org for more information.
