Make Your Own Ceramic Jewelry

Try various techniques for creating unique wearable art. Learn how to fire beads, make pendants, and use self-glazing clay called Egyptian paste, and explore techniques to attach your work to metal chains.
Please bring a towel and a set of basic clay tools if you have them.
All students will split one bag of porcelain. If a student would like more clay, they can purchase it. All firing is included.
On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Paid open studio access is available through our Studio Access Program. Please visit visarts.org for more information.
Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
Merenda Cecelia
Merenda Cecelia lives in Richmond, Va. She is an artist and state certified art educator with extensive experience in mosaic work including several large installations. She has taught for 12 years in a variety of settings including public and private schools, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and The Visual Arts Center since graduating with a BFA in Art Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. She also works at the VMFA planning large community events, and when she is not doing that you can find her in the yoga studio or playing in creeks with her son.
