Begin to explore the next steps in filmmaking by creating a short narrative film. Students will produce and edit a short interview film utilizing natural sound. Projects will either use VisArts instructors and classes as a subject or be an independent project of the student’s design. The instructor will cover how to prepare for the interview, capture b-roll, capture and edit natural sound, cover basic lighting techniques, expand upon editing methods and more. This is a great class for those who have taken digital filmmaking basics or have equivalent experience with filming and editing digital films; experience with Adobe Premier is required.

  • Students will need to bring a flash drive (at least 5 GB). Students should bring their camera to the first class. Cameras should be capable of recording in an HD format using an external microphone. Students should also bring a camera tripod, and their microphone(s) and lights if they have them.
