Students will complete a series of exercises using The New Munsell Student Color Set to gain a better understanding of color use, creation, manipulation, and organization. Exercises will aid students with color development and mixing, color relationships, color schemes, using light sources for color interaction, color vocabulary, and selecting colors for personal projects. Students will complete numerous studies in watercolors and acrylics and assemble paint charts by hue (color), value (light), and chroma (brightness). Discussions will include historical color theories with emphasis on Munsell, Albers, and the color world of Pantone. Demonstrations will include how to use watercolors and acrylics for all projects. A materials list is provided to students to purchase necessary supplies.
