Learn the basics of documentary photography, or photography that is meant to capture an event or moment in time from life. Though often associated with journalism, this form can be driven by the ideas and inspirations of the individual artist. Students will be introduced to some of the masters of the form and then complete their own documentary projects outside of class. During class, students will edit their photos and participate in group critiques and discussion. Students should have basic digital photography skills and are expected to bring their own cameras and laptops to this course.
