Explore surrealist techniques and games as a way to spark fresh, imaginative writing. We’ll play with automatic writing, homophonic translation, word collages, and more. This class will help students find the beautiful, the noteworthy, and the absurd in the day-to-day.

  • Students should bring something to write with.
Newcomb, Nathaniel

Nathaniel Newcomb teaches writing and bookmaking to elementary and middle schoolers. He also teaches ESL and grammar to adults. He graduated with a BA in English and a BS in psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. He served in the US Army, where he decided to become a writer and writing teacher. He is currently working toward an MFA in creative writing.
