This co-taught class allows students to learn the basic principles of art and design through both two-dimensional and three-dimensional media. Discover how to convey line, form, color, shape, texture and more through both drawing and metal casting. Spend Mondays in the metals studio, where you will learn how to create a silver ring or a small bronze sculpture using the lost wax casting process. Walk away with your polished metal creation and an advanced understanding of how to apply the principles of design to making a small, three-dimensional form. On Wednesdays, we’ll move to the drawing studio, where we’ll use the human figure as a teaching and learning tool. Fine tune your drawing skills using a variety of drawing media. In-class exercises and critiques, along with critical discussions of other artists’ work will broaden your understanding of technique and expand your expressive content.
