Create your own paper with polypore mushrooms, a non-toxic, plentiful and easy to find mushroom. We’ll study the polypores so you can find them after the course and we’ll create several sizes of paper using tools you can find at home. On Sunday, we’ll finish our papers and make ink out of walnuts. Plan to go home with a stack of art paper and a bottle of ink! If time allows, we’ll make a quill pen to take home as well.

  • All materials provided. A lunch break will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring a bagged lunch.

Jan Thomas was born into a family that traveled the world. When she was a young girl living in Morocco, she fell in love with the colorful handmade fabrics - djellaba, caftans, rugs, baskets and other things fiber. She learned to work a drop spindle and knit. She has been spinning on modern wheels, weaving, knitting, natural dying and generally living with fiber under her bed for over 40 years.
