Learn the basics of patternmaking by creating a 3-D fabric object based off of a 2-D drawing. We’ll study artists who create soft sculpture, then you’ll design one and create it.

  • Students should know how to sew and be comfortable with a sewing machine.
  • Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.

Tesni Stephen holds a BFA in Apparel Design from Rhode Island School of Design and a Masters of Art Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has experienced many wonderful jobs in life including being an English teacher in Japan, working in the costume and textiles collection at the Valentine Richmond History Center, working as a teaching artist for Milk River Arts, and even learning the art of millinery with Ignatius Hats in Petersburg, Virginia!
