Get acquainted with spinning by exploring basic tools and processes. Use a spinning floor wheel and spin with several basic techniques. Finish by watching a quick demonstration of plying and finishing yarn. You’ll go home with two or more samples of spun fiber.

Jan Thomas was born into a family that traveled the world. When she was a young girl living in Morocco, she fell in love with the colorful handmade fabrics - djellaba, caftans, rugs, baskets and other things fiber. She learned to work a drop spindle and knit. She has been spinning on modern wheels, weaving, knitting, natural dying and generally living with fiber under her bed for over 40 years.
