Learn to mix your own glazes and fire your own ceramic pieces. We’ll cover glaze formulas, the properties of various clay bodies and how the two influence each other during the firing process. You’ll learn about underglazes, engobes and slips. We’ll also share glaze recipes, application techniques and remedies for fixing glaze and clay flaws. Finally, we’ll discuss kiln use and maintenance.

  • All materials provided. A lunch break will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring a bagged lunch.
  • Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
Hazelgrove, Lee

Lee has been a studio potter and art educator for 30 years. His work focuses on decorative vessels, wall pieces and platters, often large in scale, created primarily on the wheel. He has exhibited in galleries throughout America and is represented in several museum collections.
