Learn to make traditional Japanese forms including yunomi and chawan tea vessels, sake sets, ikebana, single-flower vases and more. Glaze them using Japanese glazes, such as shino, ash, tenmoku, celadon, chun and nuka white. We’ll focus on ceramic subtleties that the greatest potters in the world have borrowed from Asian aesthetics. Students will design their own glaze through several rounds of testing and will mix a bucket of their customized glaze at the end.
