Learn collage: the art of collecting, creating and combining images. You’ll collect images that inspire you, then assemble them into dynamic compositions. We’ll explore visual thinking by browsing through a variety of materials and choosing the elements that, when assembled together, represent a designated concept. We’ll also explore techniques for building and layering complex collages, then experiment with surface design and materials. You’ll create your own collage and work on collaborative collages with your classmates.

  • Students will be responsible for bringing x–acto knife or knives and blades ( preferably #11 size blades) and scissors. Teacher will provide collage making material ( magazines, old books etc) small mat boards for cutting and glue sticks.
  • Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
Scott, Bob

Bob is an illustrator and collage artist living in Richmond Virginia. His illustration clients include, IBM, Wente Vineyards and The New York Times. He started making collages for fun while working as an illustrator in New York City, and began focusing on them as an form of artistic expression about 9 years ago. He views his collages are a combination of both art and archeology. His process involves unearthing images buried within the pages of old publications and on the covers of vintage paperbacks and then reinterpreting them into collage art. His collages have been part of numerous group shows, as well as 2 solo exhibits. Website: tornpagesblog.tumblr.com
