Learn to spin several types of fiber into thread and yarn in just two days! We’ll start by exploring basic tools, customs and processes while using “drop spindles.” You’ll also get a chance to use a spinning wheel and learn to ply yarn. You’ll go home with your own spun yarn fiber plus lots of fiber (wool, alpaca & cotton) to use with your drop spindle.

  • All materials provided.
  • Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
  • This weekend workshop is from 10-4 on Saturday and Sunday.

Jan Thomas was born into a family that traveled the world. When she was a young girl living in Morocco, she fell in love with the colorful handmade fabrics - djellaba, caftans, rugs, baskets and other things fiber. She learned to work a drop spindle and knit. She has been spinning on modern wheels, weaving, knitting, natural dying and generally living with fiber under her bed for over 40 years.
