Learn to dye fabric using the ancient Japanese tradition of shibori, otherwise known as tie–dye. You’ll use fiber reactive dyes to add color to white fabric and a discharge chemical to take color out of previously dyed fabric. Your finished fabric will be perfect for quilting, garment sewing and home decorating.

  • All materials are provided; participants will get a portion of cotton fabric and two silk scarves to dye. Bring a pair of rubber dishwashing style rubber gloves and wear "studio" clothes; the dyes used in this class will stain clothing. A lunch break will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring a bagged lunch.
  • Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
  • Saturday:10AM-4PM
  • Sunday:1PM-4PM
