Explore image–making in a new way. Lumen prints are created through the use of natural sunlight and expired or fogged darkroom paper. Because lumens are created through the use of light, light will forever change them. The process produces liminal(?) prints in various colors based on the brand name of the paper as well as liquids on the surface. Since lumen printing is a contact printing process, we’ll experiment with photo negatives, leaves, flowers, trash, bugs, lace and more. You’ll create compositions with natural elements and scan your original prints to create a permanent record. You’ll also use Adobe Photoshop to dust and color correct the lumen prints.
