Design and create characters, then sketch out a script for a stop-motion animation short. You'll learn to craft the sets and sounds for the animation and if you choose to have dialogue, we’ll cover lip-syncing and voice acting. Explore techniques for special effects such as cotton balls for explosions and smoke. We encourage you to work with another student, but it’s required. The end product will be yours to own and upload to whichever video-hosting website you see fit.

  • Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
  • If possible, please bring a phone with a built in camera. Please download the free app: Stop Motion Studio and have full battery life with your charger. If you do not have access to a phone, we have options, but please email the front desk: frontdesk@visarts.org
Levesque, Ian

Ian is a stop-motion animation enthusiast with a passion for sharing knowledge and experiences. He's been animating since he was eight, inspired by Aardman (Wallace & Gromit), thus sparking his lifelong hobby. Since 2012 he's been educating and introducing others from all age groups on the fundamentals of this exciting and incredibly rewarding medium hoping to plant the seed of claymation into as many ambitious minds possible.
