Making large ceramic forms is a special skill. We’ll cover how to throw large vessels on the wheel and how to throw in multiple sections on separate wheels. You’ll also learn to create large hand-built forms using slab construction. Finally we’ll discuss special concerns when firing large pieces and additional glazing techniques.

  • Prerequisite: Previous wheel-throwing experience a must, previous introductory ceramics course at VisArts recommended. All materials and equipment provided.
  • Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
  • You will receive 25 pounds of clay; additional clay is available for purchase.
Hazelgrove, Lee

Lee has been a studio potter and art educator for 30 years. His work focuses on decorative vessels, wall pieces and platters, often large in scale, created primarily on the wheel. He has exhibited in galleries throughout America and is represented in several museum collections.
