Learn how to make web content and videos for your organization using the equipment you have on hand. We’ll cover pre-production (brainstorming and script writing), production (filming and coaching talent) and post-production (editing). We’ll also explore best practices for storytelling, interviewing subjects and talk about how to use sound and video to your advantage. Students will edit using Adobe Premiere and will complete a two to three minute project for their organization.

  • Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
  • Some experience using video is an advantage, but not necessary.
  • You will need to bring a portable hard drive to class with all the video & media on it you will be using. We will be saving your project to this hard drive as well. A working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro is helpful, but not necessary. Must have access to a camera or smartphone the records video and a microphone input. Must have a microphone to connect to the camera or smartphone.
Hommel, Roger

Roger has over 30 years of experience in broadcast production that encompasses producing, editing, single & multicam productions, studio operations and team leadership. The last 18 years were at CNN in the DC bureau as a Senior Editor Producer where he provided high end packages to the prime time shows. Roger also has 10 years of experience as an adjunct professor. The last 5 years were at George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs. He co-taught a course with department chair Frank Sesno that was an intensive upper level class that focused on professional level producing, storytelling, production skills, and pushing content to the web for distribution on the Plant Forward website.
