Explore Temari, an ancient Japanese craft created by noblewomen who used silk thread to stitch around a core of rice hulls to create a soft ball, or “mari.” These balls were used for gentle indoor games and for decoration. We’ll experiment with Styrofoam balls, baby’s yarn and sewing thread for the core, then use perle cotton thread for the decorative stitches.

  • Instructor will facilitate materials purchasing and students will pay directly. Expect to pay around $25 in materials.
  • Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
