Learn to weave your own rag rug. We’ll explore the basics of weaving on a floor loom and leave the class with at least one finished 2’ x 3’ rug. Bring fabric scraps like old linens, t–shirts or even jeans. Rag rugs are easy and fun to weave and they make great gifts.

  • Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
  • Bring scrap fabrics, old clothing, bed linens, etc. from home to tear into strips and use for your rag rug. All other materials are provided.
Carter, Patrick

Patrick Carter is a textile artist and elementary art teacher living in Richmond, Virginia. He teaches weaving and ArtVenture classes at Vis Arts, and his most recent projects include collaging with woven fabrics, machine tufting rugs, and making baskets. Patrick also teaches weaving at Virginia Commonwealth University.
