Eco-dyeing or botanical dyeing relies on creative, unique and sometimes odd techniques to incorporate natural dyes into recycled cloth. We’ll use dried summer plants to perfect our hapa zome technique. In Japanese, hapa zome translates to “beating up leaves with hammers.” You’ll complete several projects.

  • This class will meet on Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM - 4 PM.
  • Registration closes one week before class starts to accommodate material ordering. A lunch break will be provided. Students are encouraged to bring a bagged lunch.
  • All materials are provided; students are encouraged to bring one article of clothing for the Hapa-Zome technique.
