A recent receipt of a Professional Artist Fellowship from the Virginia Museum of Fine Art and with an undergraduate degree in art history and a MFA in textiles, Julia has been quilting her entire life. She is a studio artist and has successfully turned a family tradition into a contemporary art form. She teaches at both the community and college level. Julia’s hand dyed and printed quilts have been exhibited extensively and can be found in numerous national publications and collections.
