This multi-week course will guide students through the process of imagining, planning and photographing a documentary series. Throughout an eight week period, students will gain exposure to different forms of documentary photography storytelling by viewing projects by key artists. We'll cover a variety of techniques, from the rules of exposure and camera technique to ethics and participant consent. Students will finish the course with a short documentary photography project. Each week students will engage in a mixture of critique, hands-on skill building and technical development.

  • Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
  • Students will need a digital OR film camera.
