Storytelling + Ceramic Surfaces with Kevin Snipes
Adult Intensive | This class has been canceled
Challenge yourself to consider the ceramic object as a canvas for storytelling. Expect a variety of demonstrations showing the techniques that Kevin uses to produce his wonderfully colorful, layered, intricate surfaces using the traditional techniques of mishima, sgrafitto, underglaze and slip decoration. We’ll discuss how Kevin uses these techniques in non-traditional ways to explore pop culture, contemporary life, narrative and art. We’ll also cover formal design, composition and meanin, referencing historical and contemporary resources for creative inspiration. This class will encourage dialogue about the social relevance of creating narrative ceramic vessels. This is a must-take workshop for anyone interested in surface development.
- Please note that this is a demonstration-only class.
- This class will meet from 10 AM - 4 PM on both Saturday and Sunday.
- Classes are confirmed one week prior to the start date. In order to help us confirm classes, please register as early as possible.
