Experience the process of taking recently harvested flax plants and magically changing them into linen thread. During this weekend course, you'll process flax using three types of 19th century tools, then learn to spin it on a drop spindle. You'll take home a ball of linen thread ready for knitting, needlepoint and maybe even sewing.

Thomas, Jan

Jan Thomas was born into a family that traveled the world. When she was a young girl living in Morocco, she fell in love with the colorful handmade fabrics - djellaba, caftans, rugs, baskets and other things fiber. She learned to work a drop spindle and knit. She has been spinning on modern wheels, weaving, knitting, natural dying and generally living with fiber under her bed for over 40 years.
