Create small, spooky creatures while learning to hand sew! Using scraps and buttons, learn to hand stitch a small creature that can be stuffed and sewn shut, or turned into a finger puppet.

  • Ages 12+ are welcomed, if accompanied by an adult.
  • Half the seats of classes will be available for pre-registration on the Monday before Second Friday: September 9th at 12pm. The rest of the seats will still be first come, first served sign up beginning at 5pm on September 13th and are open until the second session starts at 7:30.
  • We do not contact waitlist participants for 2nd Fridays classes; please do not join a waitlist. Instead, consider signing up in-person on Friday at 5pm!
  • All materials are provided.
Miner, Lauren

Lauren Miner is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, where she earned an MFA in creative writing (concentrating in poetry) and an MA in English (writing her thesis about descriptions of photographs in the poems of Larry Levis). She's led creative-writing workshops at VCU, the UVa Young Writers' Workshop, and elsewhere. Her creative interests include poetry, nonfiction, photography (both analog and digital), and comics. She currently serves as an assistant poetry editor at Four Way Review, and she is the Artist-in-Residence for the James River Park System.
