Explore ways to use the body in digital filmmaking! Students will watch short example films and do exercises that combine digital filmmaking with dance, blocking or formations and performance art. The primary technical focus will be cinematography, including tripod and handheld techniques using natural light. We'll touch on conceptual experimentation in ballet, modern and hip-hop dance. We'll also use props, costumes, staging, games and pantomime. All students must be willing to move their bodies in class, but there is no dance experience required. Students will leave with short videos of their exercises (with the option of setting the film to music).
