One of the most important tools an artist can have is a good apron. This class teaches students how to make a custom split-leg apron that they can then use for ceramics throwing, jewelry/metal working, painting and any other craft that requires the artist to sit astride the work being created. It will keep the artist clean while they work because it splits in the center and covers each leg individually. Students will learn how to create and customize patterns to meet specific needs. They’ll learn how to think through the order of assembly during construction and how to finish the edges to create a professional-looking product. They will learn how to make their own straps, ties and bias tape as well as how to sew on pockets. Students will leave class with a finished split-leg apron and a sewing pattern to make more at home.
