Come and make art side by side as a family. Each week, families will explore a new medium and create a beautiful project together. Learn about the artist Kimmy Cantrell and his unique take on masks. We will be using air-dry clay to make beautiful custom-made masks.

  • Only one sign up is required per family. Families can include up to 4 people. This program is best suited for families with children aged 3 to 8, however, all family members are welcome. All materials and equipment provided. Artmaking activities will involve some messiness; please wear appropriate clothing.

    Families need to sign up before 4pm the day before class. Confirmations/cancellations will be made by 5pm on the day before. Please sign up as early as possible.

    Students must follow social distancing protocols and wear masks at all times. For more info visit visarts.org. This is an On-site course. On-site courses do not come with studio access outside of class time. Orr, Christine

Christine Orr b.1993 (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Richmond, Virginia. Working in clay, fiber, paper-making and poetry, her practice critically navigates how humans have co-evolved with objects. Orr investigates material culture’s role in our understanding of domestic and utilitarian items. This research connects objects and what they are made from as well as their metaphorical and symbolic potential. Orr received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in 2015. She completed her Master of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University in the Craft/Material Studies Department in 2021.
