When writing concrete poems, we match the shape and form of the written poem with it's content. You can write a poem in the shape of angel wings, hearts, spirals, and so many other things! Come experiment with this tradition and see what you can create.

Scarlett, Katy

Katy Scarlett earned her MA in art history from Hunter College, CUNY, and has since been working as an adjunct professor, writer, and independent curator. She has curated exhibitions at venues such as the University of Maryland's Stamp Gallery and Arlington Arts Center, where she was a Curator's Spotlight program recipient. Katy loves contemporary art and is also interested in photography, the queer aesthetic, and interdisciplinary writer/artists. She has written book and exhibition reviews for Philadelphia's Broad Street Review and is currently an MFA candidate in the department of Creative Writing at VCU, studying poetry and creative nonfiction.
